the joy of love day 22: FACE

This assignment of the Joy of Love calls for a portrait of your love one. I have taken so many portraits of my kids, I decided to change it up a little and asked Isabel to give me FACES.

So here they are, the many faces of my little princess...mad, sad, happy, silly...you can probably interpret them as you want.  I think she has such personality and I love that she lets me photograph her as much as I do.

A speck of frills
With a pinch of pink
A touch of lace
And a dainty wink

He mixed these in
With a love for dance
And heaps of laughter
Some beauty perchance

He added oodles more
Of joy and grace
Then he put some dimples
In just the right place

As a final touch
He included a curl
And with that he smiled
For he had created a girl

the joy of love day 12: the eyes

The eyes are the window to the soul. That cliche phrase couldn't be more true, and for me, it becomes a goal to capture people focusing on their beautiful eyes.

It's funny this thing about eyes and eye color. My husband Kevin, probably has one of the most beautiful pair of eyes I had ever come across in my life.  They are so blue and so big and expressive...there's is no way you would miss them. When I fist saw him, it was one of the things that attracted me physically...they are like a magnet!

Then, when I was pregnant everybody talked about how great it would be for me to have blue eyed babies. I come from a very brown eyed family and the idea of a baby with his eyes seemed like a dream. I even prayed about this...seriously!   However, today I have two beautiful brown eyes children. Their eyes are not dark brown like mine, but some form of hazel if you see them closely. I love how different they are when it comes to this trait.

For this assignment, I choose Isabel. She has Kevin's expressive eyes that I just love...

That is chocolate cake batter on her face...so cute!

The Joy of love day 16, 15 ans 14 :)

The assignments for day 14, 15 and 16 of the Joy of Love required Kevin to be photographed,  and that put me way behind since he was out of town for nearly 10 days. The assignments called for smooching, togetherness and wedding rings. Yes...kinda hard without him.  However, once he came back I stole him and took him on a romantic self portrait photo shoot...I can not even start to describe how much fun I had (or we had ) doing this...would totally recommend it!

All we used was a tripod, a remote shooter, and an ottoman that we brought from home. I can't believe how easy this was and how awesome the pictures turned out.

Kevin, 10 years later...you look even more handsome than the first time I saw you. LOVE YOU!

The joy of love day 13: Routines

Everyday we wake up and our days seem to drive themselves in auto pilot. We go through the motions and very seldom we stop and appreciate each instant, even though it might never repeat itself, at least not in the same light. The cuteness of our kids waking up, the hectic process of getting kids ready to school, breakfast, rushing to get the bus and... ahhhh...we made it on time. She waves good bye and I'm one child down, and the rest of my day is ahead... time for coffee. After that, my day is pretty much a working progress.

This assignment of the "Joy of love"  was to capture our love one in their daily routines. My subject today was Isabel, since she is the only one (other than Kevin) with a strict routine every morning.

the joy of love day 7: Generations

For this assignment, we were supposed to photograph all the generations of our extended family. Great grandparents, grandparents, parents and kids.

My family, meaning the four of us, live far from our extended families. We are military and have moved all around this country. My in Laws live driving distance now, so we get to see them a couple of times a year, which is more than ever before.

However, I am really far away from my home. I am from Costa Rica; a "Tica" if you know that term. My mom, siblings and maternal family live in San Jose, CR where I have a great grandmother that is turning 80 this year. My maternal family is huge since my mom has 5 siblings, and they all have children, making 16 cousins to the day.  I am the first born grandchild, the oldest cousin; the only one that has children. My family is wonderful, fun, loud and busy and in everyone's' business all the time. I miss that and all that comes with it.

It is lonely to raise a family without the support of an extended one...I feel sad for my children that they don't get the experience of true fellowship and family love that I grew up with. My mom is here for a visit. She is staying for 10 days and she does this quick visits as often as she can. I love when she is here.

Yesterday we had another gorgeous warm day in AL. We took the kiddos for a hike and play to Monte Sano mountain, and I took some pictures to share with you and got caught up with assignment #7 of the "joy of Love".
